Indomitable Lions of Cameroon defender Jean-Claude Billong of French Ligue 1 side Clermont has reported to the Club’s treatment room for the attention of the medical staff for a period of at least two weeks.
According to multiple sources in France, Billong who last-featured in the 2-2 draw at home to RC Lens last week is nursing a calf problem.
The 27-year old will be out of action for Clermont’s Ligue 1 games against Montpelier and Angers plus their round of 64 cup game away to Chemin.
Unfortunately for the defender, the injury ends a good run he was enjoying, as he had started three games in a rule before picking the latest problem.
The ex-Hatayaspor defender becomes the second sweeper for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to pick up an injury barely days after it was announced Harold Moukoudi has suffered a muscle problem.
Billong could be back in action on December 22, for the Ligue 1 game at home to RC Strasbourg, thus making it possible for him to play another game for his club before the traveling home for the Indomitable Lions camp which opens on December 25.
Antonio Conceiçao is expected to name Cameroon’s provisional squad for the AFCON this week and the Lions will assemble at the Mundi Sports complex to prepare for the second coming of the tournament to Cameroon – this after 50 years.
The four-capped Cameroon international, Billong will be an important part of the Cameroon team if he recovers in time.
