The highly rated teenager had earlier caught the eye with Monaco’s youth teams with 17 goals and 11 assists in 19 games.

Jean-Calvin Kouban Mbanga who is likened to retired Cameroon goal scoring legend Samuel Eto’o and French international Kylian Mbappe is born of an Ivorian mother and a Cameroonian father, in France, which makes him eligible to represent any of the three countries.

It is therefore important for the Cameroon authorities to keep a close eye on the player and ensure he joins the Indomitable Lions, before losing him to either France or Côte d’Ivoire.
