Best Stars Academy of Limbe have their 16-year old goal scoring sensation Jemea Likanjo Soppo to thank for backing home a point in this afternoon’s Southwest Regional championship clash against city rivals Options Sports Academy.
The Under-17 Lions of Cameroon forward scored at the death to rescue a point for resilient Best Stars Academy of Limbe who stopped a very good Options Sports Academy side.
Both sides displayed exciting football in the high profile fixture this afternoon at the Limbe Centenary Stadium.
Options Sports Academy of coach Mbabot Moses came into the fixture in full confidence after their mid-week cup victory just like Best Stars of coach Djoufack Saturnin.
Both sides wasted a number of chances in the first segment of the game and at the break it was goalless but promising goals.
Just when it looked like it was going to be a game without goals Options Sports Academy won an 80th minute penalty which was converted by Ndzong Martins to give the host a late lead.
Options had no time to settle into the game after taking the lead as barely two minutes later, Soppo Jemea Likanjo leveled scores for Best Stars.
The goal was the forward’s first for the season as he missed much of his team’s activities while away in camp with the Under-17 Lions.
