Nigeria’s D’Tigress coach, Otis Hugley said FIBA haven’t done Africa good by denying Afro Basket Women Champions, D’Tigress an automatic ticket to Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
For the first time, the winner of the 2019 women AfroBasket will have to play in the playoffs to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
D’Tigress coach in an interview after the team’s return to the country, disclosed this to journalists.
Otis admitted that it was unfair that the champions will have to play the Olympic qualifiers and urge that things be made better.
The 2019 AfroBasket Women winner also said he expected the DTigress to win the trophy in Dakar.
Otis further told reporters that the team still has a lot of areas for improvement especially in the offensive area.
He disclosed that the not-too-good preparation showed the weak part of the team the reason why they defended better than they did offensively.
D’Tigress arrived the shores of the country yesterday and will play against Mozambique, Congo in the playoffs to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in November.
