Canon Yaounde are in the hunt for another lead trainer following the departure of Minkreo Birwe from the Club on Wednesday, March 31.
According to our sources, the gaffer has stepped down from his position with immediate effect on counts of a disagreement with the Club on dealing with the ill-character of a key member of the Club’s players staff.
Coach Birwe replaced Stephane Ndzana at Canon Yaounde in September 2020 and was in charge of their preparations for the current season.

50-year-old Birwe is a great manager noted for his firmness in his decision making and that has brought him success in his days as trainer of Dragon of Yaoundé-Cameroon, Cotonsport of Garoua, Aigle Royal amongst others.
The former Under-17 Lionesses of Cameroon and Eding Sport de la Lekie gaffer is a free agent henceforth.
The graduate from Cameroon’s national institute of youths and sports is one of the elite coaches in the land all thanks to his unique feats for Club and country.
Minkreo is one of very few Cameroon coaches that masterminded the qualification of a club for the group stage of the CAF Champions League (Cotonsport of Garoua in 2017) and became the first trainer to help Cameroon reach the final phase of the Under-17 women’s world cup in 2016.
With two wins from three games under Birwe this season, Canon-Yaounde are second-seeded in Pool B with six points as Panthere ahead of their match-day five confrontation this Saturday in Yaounde.
Birwe is the sixth Elite club manager to lose his job this term.
Ten times champions of Cameroon, Canon-Yaounde are currently going through a phase of transformation especially in the communications and marketing aspects of the game.
