Frank Mbella Etouga has starred for Kumasi Asante Kotoko this season, and many expected him to receive a call-up to the senior Cameroon national side even before now.
The 20-year-old lead scorer for the Porcupine Warriors could represent the Central African giants next month after being named in Rigobert Song’s side for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
It’s an amazing achievement for the Ghanian Premier League star to be called up to the national team at such a young age.
“I am truly honoured, this represents alot, for me as it is the dream of every footballer to represent his country,” Etouga told kick442.com hours after the list was published. “I’m looking forward to the moment and make the most of it. Being in the mix with such great footballers is great and it will be an honour to be able to represent Cameroon.”
This season he has managed 19 goals and three assists in 23 Ghana Premier League matches, including six man if the match awards and two hat tricks.
Now he gets to train with Vincent Aboubakar
He added: “sharing a team with stars of this level, and of learning a lot from them is great. I will try to bring what is special about me.”
Hopefully Mbella gets to make his debut in the upcoming fixtures against Kenya or Burundi.
Mbella,Oumar Gonzalez, Christopher Wooh are some of the new faces preselected by coach Rigobert Song in the squad published this Friday.
The indomitable Lions will host Kenya at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on June 5, before traveling to face Burundi them four days later in Dar Es Salaam in Match-Day one and two of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
