SL Benfica midfielder, Christy Ucheibe says it will be a thing of joy for her to play for the Super Falcons under the tutelage of Randy Waldrum.

Super Falcons are expected to feature in the 2021 Turkish Cup and a two-legged friendly match with Morocco.

After featuring for Nigeria at the U17 and U20 level, Ucheibe, 20, asserted that she will continue to work hard to get an invitation to the national team.

“I’m happy to have enjoyed great progress and gained a lot of experience as well as playing for Nigeria at the U17 and U20 levels. However, it will be a great joy to earn a call up to the senior national team as such is the dream of every player is to represent their country on the big stage. Despite such desire, I am not desperate for such an opportunity but will continue to work hard to deservedly earn my place.” She told www.kick442.com.

The former Nasarawa Amazons player joined Portuguese side, SL Benfica in January 2020, and has scored three goals for her side this season.

She said: “I think I am enjoying amazing progress here at Benfica, although I came in January but could only start playing after the lockdown in September and I am also adapting to life quite well in Portugal scoring three goals already this season. I’m happy here and learning a lot from my coaches and teammates to improve my game.”

Christy Ucheibe helped her Portuguese side to win the inaugural League Cup with a 3-0 win over Sporting Braga.
She is optimistic about helping SL Benfica win every tournament they play in by contributing her quota on the field of play.

“I am hoping to contribute my quota on the pitch to help my team win all the trophies of all the tournaments we compete for in Portugal this season and make sure we qualify for the Champions League again.”

Christy Ucheibe played for Capital City Doves of Abuja from 2014 to 2016, and Nassarawa Amazons of Lafia from 2016 to 2018 before moving abroad where she featured for the Swedish side, Assi IF (2019-2020).
