Farida watched-on from the bench as an unused sub in the double confrontation pitting Cameroon vs Ethiopia in the Olympic qualifiers.

28-year-old forward Farida Machia was recalled to the Lionesses den after superb performances with Portuguese first-tier side, Sporting Braga by coach Alain Djeumfa.

Farida’s mother in utter dissatisfaction after the 0-0 tie said: “my daughter plays for Sporting club of Braga with whom she would play the Portuguese supercup on September 8, and later play the champions League against PSG. Despite all these, the coach decided not to give her a single minute in the home and away encounter against Ethiopia. It shows that the coach doesn’t need her”.

” Farida has a master’s certificate of medicine gotten from the Boston university and would have choosed another career. It’s afterwards that she decided to play football and make herself available for selection with the national team. Why is the coach not giving her a chance? To see her play before concluding”.

“I played for the national women’s volleyball team and participated in the African championship in Tunisia. I played at a high level. Mister Djeumfa is wicked, in 180 minutes there’s none for my daughter. He should not call her up again”, were the declarations of Farida’s mother immediately after the return leg in the Yaounde Omnisport stadium.

Meanwhile, coach Alain Djeumfa told reporters in the post match presser that:” I played the players I needed to play today to give us the qualification. I assure you that in the next game, Farida Machia is going to play”. Coach Alain Djeumfa’s selections have been widely criticized since he became the man at the helm of the Lionesses.
