Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic of the Zambian local selection has hinted he is taking the positives from the struggle start in their preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship.
Zambia has been far from their best in the opening one draw and a defeat in the Pre-CHAN tournament ongoing in Cameroon.
Mistakes should be corrected and improvements should be done to avoid repetition
“It is better to happen now than in the competition. It is critical to look through to score in matches better and to improve the thighs in the back to avoid conceding the silly goals we have been conceding.” Coach Micho
Zambia suffered a 2#0 defeat from the Cranes of Uganda yesterday. Analytically coach Micho takes a look at the game and faults made
“First of all it has been a merge between fresh team and a tired team. We came to this game after a tough clash with Niger, personally I am very sure to say to my team this is preparation match, the result did not reflect what happened in the pitch because in three occasions we hit the post. One the goalkeeper bounced the ball in the wrong area and they scored, the second one own goal by goalkeeper it is a heavy situation”
He so far acknowledged the fact that the team has improved on its set pieces but more needs to be done
“It is very important we are in process and in that process we are having situations where we need to improve match by match. I beleive that we have been much more solid today much better in defensive set pieces if there were not those two mistakes it would have been much better. We have much time to refresh and come in much better in competitive form and to make ourselves ready for our first match against Tanzania.”
Zambia is drawn in pool D alongside Guinea, Namibia and Tanzania. And will ne active in the South West region for the CHAN.
