The U-23 Lions of Cameroon have been beaten by Turkey in Matchday Two of the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya on Wednesday, August 10th.
The baby Lions lost to the host 2-3 in a hard fought battle which saw Cameroon open scores but could not keep the lead until the end of the group A encounter.
Cotonsport of Garoua’s Captain, Marou Souaibou scored the opener at the 23rd minute of play, a lead the Lions could only keep until the 45th minute when an equalizing goal came in.
Souaibou captained the U-23 Lions in this first encounter for the Lions in Konya.
They separated on a one all draw in the first half and upon return to the Pitch, Turkey added two more goals to make the scoreline 3-1 late into the second half.
Wassou Patient, Cotonsport Garoua forward, Benefited from a fine midfield pass to have a one on one encounter with the opponent’s goalkeeper and he made it goal number two for Cameroon. That was at the 85th minute of play.
All efforts from Souaibou and co-forwards to level scores seemed but in vain. They failed to convey their opportunities which gave Turkey all three points at the end of the day.
Cameroon lost her first game by Forfeiture to Algeria U-23 squad after failing to show up for their game two days ago.
The U-23 Lions of Cameroon are drawn in Pool A alongside Host of the Competition, Turkey, Senegal and Algeria.
Their next rendezvous will be against Senegal U-23 Lions who are third placed in that pool with zero point just like Cameroon.
Turkey now has 6 points after beating Senegal in Round 1 and Algeria have 3 points each after winner their debut games.
