Cameroon’s men’s Olympic team’s camp is teeming with the young stars as the countdown begins for the 2022 Islamic Solidarity tournament.
In the early hours of Monday, July 24, players summoned by Guy Feutchine arrived the Felydac Hotel in Yaounde, where the 2000 Olympic Gold medalist champions are preparing for next month’s competition.
The new staff is expected to get to work almost immediately as Cameroon’s Under-23 team is expected in Turkey next month for what will be the first competition in this new dispensation.
The Olympic Lions under Feutchine and co will participate in the upcoming Islamic Solidarity tournament in Konya from August 9-18.
The Lions are in the same pool as Senegal, Turkey, and Algeria hoping to do better than the quarter final run achieved by coach Richard Towa’s squad during the previous participation in 2018.
Cameroon’s Olympic team’s last real success dates back to the Olympic Games in Sydney -Australia in 2000 when an Eto’o and Patrick Mboma inspired team shocked the world by winning Gold in the Olympic games.
