31-year-old Algerian forward Islam Slimani has come out to make some clarifications on his uncertain future.
His is currently on loan at Monaco with the option to buy from English Premier League side Leicester City for the 2019-2020 season.
Slimani told Le Score that he has not been told anything by the French Ligue 1 club on his future.
“I find it logical in the current context. No one can make an immediate decision right now,” Slimani said.
Slimani has not ruled out the possibility of staying with the French Ligue 1 side next season.
“I think I have had a good season with AS Monaco, we’ll see what happens in the future.”
Asked about a possible return to the King Power Stadium, to play for Leicester City the Algerian did not have a definite answer.
“Sincerely I don’t know. We just have to wait till the summer transfer window to know.”
His current contract with Leicester runs until June 2021.
The Algerian has also been said to be the wishlist of Olympique of Marseille.
“The current health crisis as a result of the Covid-19 has paralyzed everything. All clubs have huge financial difficulties. The transfer is hugely uncertain. It’s difficult to know what will happen”.
The Algerian international has also expressed the desire to return to Sporting Lisbon some day.
“To be honest, since I left Sporting Lisbon, I have always had in a corner of my head that I will come back to that club which has had a huge impact on my career.”
The former JSM Chéraga forward has 68 caps for Algeria, scoring 29 goals, helping Algeria to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations triumph.
