Chairman of Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL Club Owners, Isaac Danladi said that they are not responsible for the problems of the Nigeria National League, NNL. He said that club owners are not the reason why NNL couldn’t play as many matches that could warrant the promotion of the clubs to the first division.
“The NNL issue started before COVID-19 pandemic. It’s not the fault of the Nigeria Premier League that the Nigeria National League, NNL couldn’t go anywhere. Their league was suspended since December last year. Some clubs played five games while some played three games. The Nationwide League and the Women’s league has not even commenced. Why not get it right? Whatever we are losing today we can gain it tomorrow. Let us make sure that we set and get things right. Nobody asked questions about why those leagues never started. If we must get it right, we have to do it rightly.
Kick442.com had earlier reported that 17 out of 20 NPFL Club Owners voted for the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season on Point Per Game, PPG without promotion and relegation.
If this decision is adopted by the League Management Company, LMC, it will affect the NNL and Nationwide League as there won’t be relegation and promotion from these leagues.
