North West representative at the 2022 National Interpools Hilltop Strikers of Bamendakwe has started their campaign in the competition with a two-nil victory against Adamawa champions Olympique of Meiganga.
The team from Bamendakwe defeated Olympique Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the Centenary Stadium in Limbe.
Things started very early for Hilltop Strikers as they scored what has become the earliest goal of the competition. Barely 20 seconds into the match, Ngwainbi Francis opened scores for Hilltop Strikers of Bamendakwe.
The early goal allowed Hilltop Strikers to impose their playstyle in the opening quarter of the match.
Godwin Cletus and Ngwainbi Francis came close to scoring on two different occasions but they both failed to concretize their efforts.
All efforts from Olympique of Meiganga failed to produce any goal for Olympique as the first half ended 1#0 in favor of Hilltop Strikers.
Upon resumption of the second half, coach Ngwa Remy of Hilltop Strikers brought in Forche George in place of Ngwainbi Francis.
Forche George and Denis Che Che from the right flank caused a lot of problems for the defenders of Olympique of Meiganga.
Forche George and Kimbi Roderick came close to scoring but their shots were saved by goalkeeper Obaward Baba.
Olympique of Meiganga through Bobo Ndoe and Ndongmo Felix caused some panic in the Hilltop defense when defender Charles Lenka went out injured.
Hilltop Strikers took care of the pressure mounted on them. In the first minute of additional time, Njoya Yussuf from a cross by Kimbi Roderick scored the second for Hilltop Strikers to give his team a two-nil victory.
