Nkufu Academy of Yaounde and Hilltop Strikers of Bamendakwe will have to wait till Tuesday, September 20, 2022, to fight for a place in the semi-finals of the 2022 interpools. This is after both teams played a one-all tie on their third outing.
Both teams used the opening quarter of the match to observe each other and impose their playing style.
The first chance of the match went the way of Nkufu Academy at the 15th-minute match. A through pass from the midfield to Franky Manga saw his shot saved by goalkeeper Boris Anye of Hilltop Strikers.
Two minutes later, Hilltop Strikers had their first sight at goal but the shot from Godwin Cletus went off target.
The North West Regional league champions then mounted pressure on the defense of Nkufu Academy with Kimbi Roderick, Ngwainbi Francis, and Njoya Youssoufa causing problems with their incursions. The pressure led to a red card dished out to Junior Meke of Nkufu Academy after a dangerous foul on Kimbi Roderick.
In the 30th minute of play, Amidou Nsangou after going past Asanji Emmanuel delivered a perfect cross to Franky Manga who scored with a beautiful header to give his Nkufu Academy a one-nil lead.
Clifford Shu and Ndzi Alphonse of Hilltop Strikers went out injured.
Upon resumption of the second half, Hilltop Strikers were forced to use their last opportunity for substitution.
Three minutes into the second half, Denis Che Che delivered a cross that was headed by Godwin Cletus. His header turned into an assist to Ngwainbi Francis who scored to level scores for Hilltop Strikers.
All efforts from both teams to grab the winning goal didn’t yield any fruits.
Hilltop Strikers remains second in Pool A with 5 points while Nkufu Academy has 4 points.
On the last playing day in Pool A, Nkufu Academy takes on Olympique of Meiganga while Hilltop Strikers will play against NGV.
