Tunisia boost their World Cup preparations with a 3-0 win over Japan on Tuesday, June 14, in Osaka to finish first in the four-team Kirin Cup tournament to lift the trophy as Champions.
Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Esperance midfielder, scored from the spot at the 55th minute before Ferjani Sassi and Ali Maaloul scored to complete an impressive victory for the Tunisia.
This comes after the Carthage Eagles defeated Chile 2-0 in the semi-final of the competition on Friday last week.
Tunisia gave Japan a tough time throughout the game though they both struggled to create chances in a tight first half.
A defensive blunder and lack of communication between centers backs, Maya Yoshida and Ko Itakura caused them the second goal of the game from Captain Youssef Msakni after Romdhane netted the first from the penalty spot.
Issam Jebali came off from the bench to score his second goal of the tournament at extra time. It was the third and last goal fir Tunisia in the game.
Ghana, Tunisia and Japan are using the tournament to prepare for the World Cup to be hosted by Oater from November 21st to December 18.
Ghana claimed third place in the friendly tournament by beating Chile 3-1 on penalties.
The Carthage Eagles could only reach the quarter final stage of the 2021 African Cup of Nations early this year in Cameroon but qualified for the 2022 World Cup after defeating Mali.
Tunisia have been drawn in Group D of the 2022 FIFA World Cup alongside France, Denmark and Australia.
