The intermediate Lions of Cameroon have recorded a goalless draw against local top-flight side UMS of Loum in the inaugural game at the Japoma Stadium in Douala-Cameroon.
Monday’s Pre-CHAN2020 friendly game against UMS of Loum failed to produce the expected fireworks from both sides with the Lions squandering the biggest chance of the evening as Ako Assomo had his late second-half penalty brilliantly saved in a game in which the Lions struggled to fine their touch of class.
The result meant Cameroonians will have to be a little more patient about their desire to see the first goal in the 50,000 capacity structure.
It is the second recent friendly in Douala, unfortunately the Lions are winless in both after they lost by a goal to nil to Stade Renard on Sunday.
The team will climax their preparations in January with three friendlies against Uganda, Niger and Zambia in a pre-CHAN2020 friendly tournament in Yaoundé-Cameroon.
The CHAN proper begins on January 16 with the opener pitting Cameroon against Zimbabwe before the next two group games against Mali and Burkina Faso.
The 16-nations tournament run till February 7th across four cities in the Central African nation.
