Players of Cameroon’s Intermediate selection will begin camping this week in preparations for their second round 2023 African Nations Championship qualifier ties later this month and in September, kick442.com has gathered.
The squad to be guided by recently appointed coach Alioum Saidou is expected to be published in the days ahead, just before the start of the camp.
The names players invited are expected to be made public by the technical staff before the start of the camp.
Per the past, a bulk of the players are expected to be picked from the MTN Elite One championship.
The trainers are expected to base their selection on the performances of players during last season’s championship.
The intermediate lions of Cameroon, will face Equatorial Guinea in the next round of the qualifiers.
Cameroon who were host CHAN 2021 and finished fourth, will battle for their ticket to Algeria 2023, against neighboring Equatorial Guinea.
The intermediate lions play their Equato_Guinean counterparts in the first leg in Malabo, between August 26_28, with the return game schedule in Cameroon between September 2_4.
The winner of the tie will qualify for the final phase of the TotalEnergies CHAN 2023, which will take place in Algeria from January 8 to 31, 2023.
Elsewhere in the UNIFFAC zone, the Central African Republic clash with Congo, while Chad will face multiple winner DR Congo.
The winners in the second round qualifiers will join host Algeria, Libya and holders Morocco in the finals.
