Martin Nkabyo, the head coach of Cameroon Elite One side Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda has backed the Club’s defender Oscar Etoga.
The 21-year old sweeper became the Club’s first YOSA player to be call up to join the current intermediate Lions of Cameroon squad this Friday when he wad drafted into coach Martin Ntoungou Mpile’s list of 28 players for a training camp expected to go into the camp from Sunday December 6.
Speaking to kick442.com barely minutes after the player’s was call up coach Nkabyo Martin.
“Etoga Oscar, young, good lad. Good morphology, good physical presence, very at ease with the ball (good technique with both legs). He’s got a wide margin of progress and a great future ahead of him if he works well and works as hard as he should for every young footballer,”coach revealed.
The gaffer knows the player inside-out having spent two seasons with the boy at the Mile six Stadium in Nkwen. He expresses his delight on the recent development.
“I’m so happy for him, because that young man has shown proof of plenty of character, of a strong mental state. He came in here last football season with the crises and the political tension at it’s peak. A lot many young men would have panicked and abandoned, especially considering the fact that he was a complete stranger in his new environment. He braved the odds(it wasn’t easy at the beginning – language barrier, cultural (food, etc) and stayed out the gunshots and the entire season. I was impressed with the ease with which he integrated himself in his new environment and the team! He came back for a second season and right now, he speaks a bit of English and plenty of pidgin. He’s a “Bamenda man” right now and we’re proud of his selection into the intermediate National Team. He deserves it and we’ll accompany him with our prayers for an excellent preparation of the tournament and a great tournament, come January 2021. We’re also very happy and proud of the selection of Boung Joel, another young, solid defender, and Haschou Kerrido, a great, talented goalkeeper into this team. We wish all of them the very best,” the experienced astute technician exclusively told kick442.com.
The team assembles at the CAF Excellence center in Mbankomo-Cameroon from Sunday for ten days before engaging in a PRE-CHAN2020 four nations tournament to begin in early January 2021 in Yaounde.
