3 former Cameroon International Atouba Timothé, Nicolas Alnoudji and Jean II Makoun have reunited as teammates for a local team Vétérans de Jouvence in an inter quarters competition in the Yaounde 6 municipality.
Inter-quarters in Cameroon is a holiday tournament which brings teams together for an amateur football competition with each team fighting for the glory of the neighborhood the team is named after.
Vétérans de Jouvence can be considered as the most attractive team in the tournament because of the football success of the above mentioned trio on their books.
kick442.com understands former Timothe Atouba registered the team and started the competition as their coach but quickly jumped in when results weren’t going the team’s way and decided to invite his friends and former International colleagues to join him.
39 years old Alnoudji and 36 years old Jean II Makoun were young midfielders for Cotonsport of Garoua in the 1999 season before moving apart to enjoy a successful career in Europe and played together in the National Team in the early 2000’s were they also met 37 year old former Union Sportive of Douala and Tottenham Hotspur left back Timothe Esamma Atouba.
The trio won a total of 18 titles with clubs around the World,they also made 123 International appearances between them with Alnoudji finishing as African champion in the 2002 AFCON in Mali plus Olympic Gold Medalist in the Sydney 2000 Olympic games while Atouba Won the AFCON in Nigeria in the year 2000.
Atouba retired from professional football after the 2014 season at Spanish side Las Palmas after representing SV Hamburg, FC Basel,Ajax Amsterdam amongst others while Makoun who played for Aston Villa, LOSC LILLE, Olympique Lyonnais and other great clubs was last seen playing professional football with Antalyaspor.
The participation of this trio in this competition is certainly a wonderful gesture giving that they inspire the next generation of players by meeting them on the pitch.
Jouvence plays another game this Friday.
