Russian premier league side Locomotive Moscow have confirmed the death of their 22-year-old defender Innokentiy Samokhalov who took ill during an individual training this Monday.
The Mytishchi native born in October 1997 joined the club in 2015 but died without break into the first team.
This season he has been with the club’s feeder team Kazanka which competes in the third tier Championship in Russia.
Italian tabloid La Gazetta dello Sport is reporting that the player suffered a cardiac arrest but we cannot independently confirm that especially as Locomotive Moscow Tweeted the about the players demise without cause and the venue of the sad event.
“He felt bad during an individual training session, the circumstances (leading to his death) are still being clarified.”
“He was a kind, nice guy, a good friend. It’s deeply sad for our family.” A club statement read.
The lad was one of the major prospects at the club though he hadn’t secure a place in the first team.
Players around the world have been off the pitch since the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic but unfortunately death met Innokentiy in a manner that has left the football world devastated.
