Innocent Assana on duty for the Under 20 Lions

Union Sportive of Douala midfielder, Assana Nah Innocent has confessed returning to Garoua will be a special occasion for him.

The 19-year-old midfielder confided to that it wasn’t easy living Garoua but he feels at home these days at Union Sportive of Douala.

The former under 17 Lions midfielder spoke to this online portal about this Sunday’s match day 24 fixture in the elite one championship.

“We had a very slow start,we lacked confidence at the beginning. With hardwork and greater experience, we are doing better this second half of the season”.

Union Sportive of Douala have won five of their six games in the second round of the season while their host are winless in that time. Cotonsport’s run of bad results is largely due to the absence of many of their players who are with the intermediate Lions of Cameroon. The midfielder says Union Sportive players will not consider the absence of Cotonsport players as a weakness on the part of their host.

“Cotonsport is having difficult times largely because most of their players are with the intermediate Lions. We are not looking at that, we will give our all to get the three points. It is my first coming to Garoua,I come with joy in my heart. It is going to be a special game for me and I pray we get the right results in the spirit of fairplay”: Assana concluded

The skillful playmaker introduced himself to fans of the Cameroon League one championship in 2017 in the colours of Cotonsport of Garoua. He spent three years at the club and won the 2018 league one title.

His move to Union Sportive surprised many fans of Cotonsport, but the midfielder has quickly settled in. He has made 15 appearances for the club this season and assisted four goals before getting one for himself against Panthère Nde on Wednesday.

Assana Nah, Carlain Manga Mba, Loic Feudjou and Serge Andoulo are members of the Union Sportive squad who previously represented Cotonsport.

This Sunday’s clash is one of the biggest in the championship as both clubs share 20 Cameroon League one titles between them.
