Cotonsport of Garoua skipper Maroua Souaibou has been invited to the senior national team of Cameroon – the Indomitable Lions ahead of the double-header confrontation against Algeria on Friday in Douala and Monday in Blida.
The 21-year old forward scored his fourth goal of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup last weekend in his club’s 2-2 draw at home to TP Mazembe.
His all-round performance that afternoon in the presence of Indomitable Lions staff Augustine Simo and Souleymanou Hamidou may have played the trick in relation to his call up.
In All, Souaibou has been pivotal for Cotonsport during this season’s competition scoring all but two of their six goals.
The versatile winger mostly operates in the left side but can play in the other side of the flank.
Marou joined Cotonsport three years ago from Sahel of Maroua. He has developed into one of the reliable players at the club. Last season, he played a telling role to help the Cotonites reach the semi final of the Confederation Cup and win the domestic title.
Marou becomes the second home base player invited, adding to teenage club colleague Wassou Goue Patience.
The current generation of Indomitable has seven past and present Cotonsport players – the likes of Vincent Aboubakar, Moumie Ngamaleu, Zambo Anguissa, Simon Omossola and Ambroise Oyongo all represented Cotonsport at some point in time.
