The head of state through the minister of sports and physical education Prof Narcisse Mouelle kombi, has offered 181million fcfa to the indomitable lions of Cameroon for qualifying for the World Cup.
In a letter addressed to the lions captain Vincent Aboubakar , the minister reiterated the bonus is in line with the promise made by the head of state prior to their qualification
«I have the honor to inform you that due to the brilliant qualification of our national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the head of state (president Paul Biya ) has given his accord for an exceptional prize to be given to the lions» reads the communique
This match bonus will be removed from the coffers of the ministry of sports and physical education and will be deposited in the individual bank accounts of all the players and members of staff who took part in the two legged game against Algeria.
«This match bonus worth 181,000,000 will be deducted from the coffers of the ministry sports and physical education and according to the rules of partition , will be deposited in the individual bank accounts of the teammates and technical staff of the national team» the communique adds
The letter ends with the president congratulating the team once more for their World Cup qualification .
Cameroon defeated Algeria in blida 2 goals to one , to pick up one of the 5 World Cup spots. The team who lost 1 nil to Algeria in Japoma qualified thanks to goals from Eric Maxim Choupo Moting and Karl Toko Ekambi, with the FIFA away rule working in their favor.
The lions will be participating in their 8th World Cup after missing out in 2018.
