Morocco fell to their second defeat 33-20 at the 2021 edition of the IHF Men’s World Championship in Egypt against Portugal.
Morocco targeted their first win of the tournament after losing to Algeria in their first game in group F.
But it was Portugal the championship returnee after many years who secured their second win after triumphing against Iceland.
The North African side started good just like a team in need of a win.
An incredible 11 saves at 48% from Morocco keeper Yassine Idrissi saw the African side lead the opening, before the European team fight back to a level score of 12:12 at half-time.
But once Portugal found the way to beat Idrissi it was all over for the African side.
Portugal ended the game on a high scoring 14 points as against Morocco’s 2 to secure a 13 points advantage to win comfortably.
Morocco play Iceland in their next game for a lifeline at the tournament.
