Bahrain made sure Dr Congo didn’t move to the next round after beating them 34-27 at IHF Men’s World Championship in Egypt.
Dr. Congo and Bahrain were pursuing their first win of this year’s tournament after losing their first two games to Denmark and Argentina.
After a one nil lead by Dr Congo, Bahrain picked up and went ahead leading by a 3-point advantage.
The African side at some point of the game, had the edge over the Asians leading by a 2-point advantage.
But it was Bahrain who had never qualified for the main round of this tournament that were more consistent to win the first half of the tie 14-12.
The two teams still continued close fight in the second half, but it was Bahrain that looked certain for victory.
Al-Sayyad and Abdulhusain were instrumental as the Asians won the tie 34 to 27 to move to the main round of the tournament and condemn the Africans to the Presidential Cup.
