Angola ends their preliminary round with a loss against Japan at the Handball Men’s World Championship in Egypt on Tuesday.
It was a narrow defeat that came as a result of a last minutes goal from Japan to condemn the Southwestern Africa side to the bottom of group C.
The two sides needed a win to ensure the last team that moves to the main round of the tournament.
With a place in the main round hanging in the balance, Japan took the lead against Angola at half-time 16:12.
However, the Africans wouldn’t give up without a fight equalling score and looking likely to get something out of the game.
However, a heartbreaking scene it was as a last minutes goal gave the Asian team the 30-29 win to ensure their qualification to the main round while the Africans drop to the Presidential Cup.
