The Super Eagles forward scored two goals but that was not enough to help his English Premier League side, Leicester City as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Westham United at the Olympic Stadium, London on Sunday.
After a brace from Jesse Lingard and a goal courtesy of Jarrod Bowen which gave Westham United a 3-0 lead, Iheanacho who won the English Premier League Player for March sparked off Leicester City’s second-half fightback with two goals.
Iheanacho scored his first goal in the 70th minute. Ricardo Pereira teed up Kelechi Iheanacho on the edge of the box and he fired the ball into the right side of the goal.
In the 92nd minute, Iheanacho pounced on a loose ball inside the box and beats Westham’s goalkeeper with a shot into the bottom left corner for his second goal of the game.
Kelechi Iheanacho has scored eight league goals in 18 games for Leicester City this season.
Super Eagles duo of Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi played for the full duration of the game for Leicester City. The latter received a yellow card for his troubles.
Leicester City occupied the third position on the English Premier League table with 56 points from 31 games.
They will host Southampton in their next game on April 18, 2021.
