The International Federation of Football History (IFFHS) through its ranking placed Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as the fifty-seventh (57) strongest league in the world.

The NPFL which was ranked seventy-seventh in 2018 amassed 346,5 points to come fifty-seventh strongest league in the world and seventh in Africa.

The ligue 1 of Tunisia retained the first place in the Africa after being ranked fifteenth in the world. The botola of Morocco took place second improving their 2018 rankings where they were placed seventeenth (17th) and the premier league Egypt registered his best result since nine years (23 in 2010).

The body announced the rankings yesterday as England became number one amongst the leagues in the world after ten years.

The Seira A of Brazil and the La Liga of Spain came second and third respectively.

According to the IFFHS rankings, the ten best African leagues are:
