Morocco secured their first in an IHF Men’s World Championship against Korea at thr New Capital Sports Hall on Friday evening in Egypt.

The North African side who had lost all five matches played so far in the tournament, are sixth placed team to join the seven countries that represents Africa.

Morocco stood strong taking the lead and maintaining the momentum unlike previous matches where they bottled it at some point of the match.

Though the Asians relied on their pace to outrun the Africans, Morocco did enough to sustain the first half lead of 15:14.

By the second half, it was Morocco on the ascendency leading by 21 points to Korea’s 17 points. From then on the physical Morocco side had a firm grip of the game.

Goalkeeper Idris’ saves plus a solid display ensured a 7-point win for Morocco.

According to IHF.com, the 32:25 win was the second-largest margin of victory win in Morocco’s history and only their third in 38 games at the IHF Men’s World Championship.

Morocco play Chile on Sunday in their last group game.
