Nigeria U19 Cricket team, the Junior Yellow Greens secured their first win at the ongoing ICC U19 Cricket World Cup with 8 wickets triumph over Japan.

The 15th Place Playoff match took place on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the North-West University No2 Ground in Potchefstroom.

The result meant that Nigeria finished in 15th place out of the 16 countries that participated at the World Cup.

Nigeria finished at the bottom in Group B. They failed to win any of their matches and in fact suffered huge losses.
Nigeria were part of a one-sided encounter against Sri Lanka in the plate quarter final one. Their bowlers could not make an impact and leaked a lot of runs. Sylvester Okpe, Rasheed Abolarin and Miracle Akhigbe were still able to hold fort but the rest of the bowling was truly disappointing.
The Nigerian batters could only manage 73 runs and were bundled within 17.3 overs. Lower order batsman Abdulrahman Jimoh, who was the only Nigerian batsman to reach double figures, was the top scorer with 15.

After a forgettable group stage outing, Japan on the other hand lost the plate quarter final two against England by a big margin of 9 wickets. The team batted first and got bundled out for just 93.
