The Nigerian defensive midfielder, Afeez Aremu has said that he didn’t think twice before deciding to join the German side, St. Pauli, www.kick442.com can report.
“I’m glad that I’m finally here. When the offer came from St. Pauli, I didn’t have to think twice. It’s a big club and for me the change is the next important step in my development. Now I can I can’t wait to get to know my teammates and start working.” Aremu told the Club after signing a three year deal with the German side on Monday.
The defensive midfielder, Afeez Aremu, 20, joined St. Pauli from the Norwegian first division club, IK Start Kristiansand and signs a contract until June 30, 2023. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer modalities.
St. Pauli’s Head coach, Timo Schultz says Afeez is one of the missing link in his team. He said: “With Afeez we get an element that was missing in the squad so far. He is the type of dynamic ‘clearer’ that I wanted. He has already completed several seasons at a high level and is in his Age at the same time still capable of development.”
The 20-year-old Nigerian moved from Inter Allies FC from the Ghanaian first division to Norway at the beginning of 2018, where he played for Kristiansand. He played a total of 63 competitive games, scoring five goals, with one assist. In addition, Aremu played three games for the Flying Eagles (Nigerian U20 national team).
