Former GHALCA boss Alhaji Raji has expressed his utmost surprise on why the GFA President is pushing for an autonomous league.
According to the experienced football administrator, the only legacy the FA has is the premier league therefore making it autonomous will take everything from the FA President.
“I am surprised he is pursuing this agenda. If I get the opportunity to meet him I will advise him to rethink. This autonomous league would have started long ago but was suspended and there were reasons for that,” Alhaji Raji said on Akoma FM.
“The league is the GFA and GFA is the league so if he loses hold on clubs/league, what influence will he wield again.”
On the issue of the 18 division one league, former GHALCA capo said he does not support the idea because it will prevent nationwide representation.
“Kurt doesn’t understand why we decentralised the Division One League.
The current system covers every part of the country so why does he want to change it?
“I don’t know why he wants to reduce it to 18 team league,” he questioned.
He, therefore, added that due to the current state of our football and the impact of the Covid-19, the league should be nullified and prepare for another season.
“We should nullify the league and commence preparation for a new league. Currently, the only option left is playing without fans and how can the teams foot their bills? “
“The best option is to nullify it and plan for a new season,” he concluded.
