17-year-old potential Indomitable Lions forward, Hugo Ekitike could become a member of the Stade Reims first team from this Thursday when he pens his first deal with the club.
The forward who also plays as a right winger, was one of the in-form players edging closer to a spot in the first team before the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic punctured the 2019-2020 French Ligue 1 season.
Ekitike enjoyed a brilliant season with the Reims reserves team scoring five goals in 12 appearances under coach Jérome Monier.
His brilliance caught the attention of the first team coach David Guion who allow him train with the first team occasionally before the season was abandoned.
French outlet L’Equipe is reporting that Ekitike could sign a three-year-deal as a quasi professional player at the club this Wednesday.
This new deal at Reims could put an end to speculations linking him with a move to England and Germany in the last few weeks.
Ekitike is one of two Cameroonians in a Reims reserve team which is also home for former Cotonsport teenage midfielder, Moise Sakava and 19-year-old defender Rosin Christian Bella.
His switch to the senior team will put him together with Triston Dingome, another of the Cameroonian ambassadors at the club.
