Former Indomitable Lions of Cameroon trainer Hugo Henry Broos is edging closer to being named coach of the Leopards of DR Congo national selection.
According to credible sources the country’s football federation is finalizing details to name him replacement of Nsengi-Biembe, who was dismissed following a disappointing 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
Amongst the options in a shortlist of 62 on the Congolese media is Hugo Henry Broos who won the 2017 AFCON tournament in Gabon with Cameroon is a priority and some details have filtered.
This Pan-African Sports news agency understands the FA boss Constant Omari has taken the initiative to ensure Broos’ services are secured.
Foot D’Afrique is reporting that the gaffer will pen a four-year deal which will see him earn $47000 per month.
69-year old Broos who previously worked in Cameroon is an experienced trainer with the aptitude to change the fortunes of DR Congo which has been dwindling for over a decade.
The trainer told kick442.com in an exclusive interview in November that he had unfinished business and will be back in Africa for that.
Former Indomitable Lions defender and current coach of the Olympic national selection of Cameroon is also linked to vacant DR Congo job alongside compatriot Ashu Bessong Cyprian.
The Congolese Federation’s president is expected to make a decision as soon as possible with the 2022 world cup qualifiers in sight.
