“Our technical, administrative and players staff this season has international touch, because we want to build an empire. Looking at our personnel, one can see the new Union Sportive of Oyem with Cameroonians, Chadian, Ivorians and others from across the continent which indicates our intention. We want to be the biggest Club in Gabon and make a strong statement in the continental scene,” president Hubert Minang told this Pan-African Sports News Agency.
He was speaking barely hours after the Club hired experienced Cameroonian football administrator and Technician Matip Emmanuel as their Sports Director and General manager.
The arrival of Matip from Lion Blesse of Fortuni gives the Club a personel who knows the house having served as a coach of the Club in 2007 and worked in Equatorial Guinea, Chad amongst other countries.
President Minang is a respectable football official in Gabon, his tentacles in the game speaks for itself with over two decades of experience.
As part of Union Sportive of Oyem’s preparations for the new season, they have lined up international Club friendlies against Equatorial Guinean sides; Deportivo of Mongomo, Futuro Kings of Mongomo and Akonangui FC.
They are also expected to travel to Cameroon for four international friendlies against Eding Sport de la Lekie, Cotonsport of Garoua, Union Sportive of Douala and Canon Yaounde who share 31 Cameroon Elite One titles between them.
Union Sportive of Oyem have their 7th-placed finish in the 2016-2017 season as their benchmark but with the vision in place from president Minang Fils, the glory days have never been this close.
