Cairo and African football giants Al Ahly have informed the club’s captain Hossam Ashour that he will not continue playing for the club after the current campaign.
The 34-year-old joint Al Ahly’s senior team in 2003 after coming through the ranks of the club.
He has been offered a role with the club’s TV channel after he hangs up his playing boots at the end of the season.
The former Egyptian international defensive midfielder is one of the most decorated players in African club football.
He won 12 Egyptian league titles, 11 Egyptian Super Cups, three domestic cup titles, 5 CAF Champions League titles, one CAF Confederations Cup and 5 CAF Super Cups titles.
The emblematic number 25 will retire as a true legend of Al Ahly and of African football.
