Hilltop Strikers have been rocked by the news that striker Nkeh Nehemiah has been ruled out of the 2022 National Interpools after fracturing his right tibia in a friendly against PWD of Bamenda on Thursday August 25 at the University Stadium in Bambili.
Nkeh collapsed in agony after colliding with PWD goalkeeper Edouard Sombang in the course of a friendly match PWD eventually won 4-0.
He lay prone on the pitch for several minutes before being carried off on a stretcher with his leg attached to a splint.
Nkeh went straight to the hospital where he was operated on. Medical reports said he has suffered an open fracture of the left tibia.
Afterwards PWD Media officer Afeseh Apongwu confirmed the 21-year-old had suffered a double tibia fracture but is under optimal medical care.
The situation means Nkeh would not take part in Hilltop Strikers’ 2022 national interpools as he needs between 16-20 weeks to fully recover from the nasty injury.
Coach Ngwa Remy will have to do without the striker who has scored some important goals for the club this season.
Coach Ngwa must now build a team for the interpools with other options in the frame.
The 2022 interpools which will culminate in the graduation of two clubs to Elite 2 is expected to kick off sometime in September in the seaside town of Limbe.
The Northwest represented by its champion – Hilltop Strikers, pitted in Pool A alongside the Center, North represented by National FC, West and Adamawa regional champions.
