Two-time AFCON winning coach, Herve Renard has stated jokingly that one of his favourite players and Ghanaian former captain, Asamoah Gyan ought to have had a better career but was lazy.
The Moroccan coach while speaking with journalist Juliet Bawuah in a chat disclosed his likeness for the player.
”The quality of Asamoah Gyan was good. He was a very good scorer, a very good player, a fantastic player.
”But I have something to tell him he suppose to have a better career but he was lazy (laughs).
When asked how the Gyan was lazy, he said ”For training he was lazy, he only liked the games which is the most important (laughs). The animated coach said.
The former Moroccan coach went ahead to mention the former Ghanian international in his passionate list of Top eleven players he has coached.
A 4-2-3-1 formation has in goal goalkeeper, Richard Kingston of Ghana.
Medhi Benatha of Morocco is at the right-back position joined by John Mensah of Ghana and Kolo Toure of Cote D’Ivoire as centre backs while Achraf Hakimi of Morocco occupied the left-back position.
Four-time African footballer of the year and Ivorian legend, Yaya Toure and Ghanaian former international, Michael Essien make up the two holding midfield positions.
At the back of the striker is Siaka Tiéné of Cote D’Ivoire and Ghanian’s duo Sulley Muntari and Andre Ayew.
Asamaoh Gyan took the position of the lone striker.
Renard insisted he still would play Asamoah Gyan any day.
The Saudi Arabia national team coach was in 2008 an assistant to Ghanaian former coach Claude Le Roy before coaching Zambia in his first spell.
