Iraki giants Newroz Sports Club have signed Cameroonian defender Herve Ngomo to flesh out their defensive ranks for the 2022/23 season.
The former Cotonsport star who was available for free since the start of September has joined the topflight side on a one-year deal for an undisclosed fee but a salary greater than the amount he previously eaned at Coton.
Ngomo’s versatility is believed to be an attractive proposition for any suitor who need cover at the centre of defence and so Newroz couldn’t bypass the chance to sign him.
Coton reckon already replaced the 26-year-old with Franck Bahoeu, recruited from Eding Sport to compete with Che Malone and Goni Ali who could also be on his way out of the club.
Ngomo, Cameroon international, who was called up to the senior national selection by ex-Lions boss Antonio Conceicao in October 2019, after he had a great game against his former club Panthere in Yaounde will join a number of compatriots in Irak.
Though game time dried off towards the past weeks, Ngomo had two successful seasons at Coton; featuring in all 47 games in all competitions.
In two seasons in Garoua, he has won back-to-back MTN Elite One titles, reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup and Cup of Cameroon
Besides getting called up to the senior national selection, he was capped sparingly for the intermediate team in the build up to the 2021 African Nations Championship.
