The role of a striker in every football team is of paramount importance. Their facinating high class performances, largely capable to peel off defenders and earn precious wins for their sides is a major achievements in their careers.

Cameroonian striker Jacques Zoua Doagari is ranked amongst the Lion’s most regular called up forwards but has swung too far from the corridors of success. Despite having a significant leap in his professional career with several clubs in France, Belgium and Germany, the physically incredible striker has suffered from a tale of untold misfortunes.

Many have debated over the career of the Cameroonian international with lots of regrets that a possible future star had passed his peak without ever getting close. He made an explosive start with Cameroon’s youth teams which left enough of a mark among fans. Years after, the once scintillating hailed player has lost his spark.

Jacques Zoua won seven domestic title with FC Basel between 2009 and 2013. He also reached the Europa League semi final but lost to Chelsea in 2012. After a remarkable start in his career, the uprising striker was relatively too far from his recent best form at the Switzerland outfit with other clubs.

The 28-year-old goal getter joined Hamburger SV on a three year deal in 2013 but a year later was loaned to Erciyesspor. Barely had he began to settle down, did Zoua decide to sign another three year contract with newly promoted Ligue 1 side Gazelec Ajaccio in 2015/2016 and surprisingly was on the books of Kaiserslautern the following year ( 2016/2017). Second tier Belgian club Beerschot Wilrijk, Astra Giurgiu and then Viitorul Constanta have contacted the former Coton Sport talent in only two years.

Between 2013-2020, Jacques Zoua scored 23 goals for seven clubs. Within these eight years,he has not reached double figures as was the case with Basel wherein he netted 14 goals in 86 appearances. Obviously, his excess club mobility has played a great trick on his goal per game ratio. Most often than always, the Garoua born native gave up too many goals carelessly and could end a championship and major tournaments without featuring on the score sheet.

Jacques Zoua won the 2017 Afcon with Cameroon and is yet to score an international goal with the Lions. He was a regular with the Cameroon youth squad which took part in the 2009 African Youth Championship, and the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup. His contract at Viitorul has just been mutually terminated less than a year after a deal between both parties was sealed.
