Albert Roger Milla was born 67 years back on May 20th, a day slated as the national unity day in Cameroon.

The forward became one of the very first footballers to burst into the world stage aged 38, he scored 5 goals in 3 world cup tournaments especially the heroics of 1990 where he bagged in 4.

Four years later, the ‘grandpa’ of the team set a record in 1994 as the oldest goal scorer in the world cup aged 42.

While with the national team, Milla scored 37 in 63 appearances. The energetic forward blessed with skill and technique played for 11 clubs, scoring 405 goals.

Milla has received countless accolades from legends and football bodies: Pele named him in 2004 in his list of the world’s greatest living footballers, then the African confederation of football in 2007 named Milla the best African footballer in the last 50 years.

Roger Milla won the AFCON twice in his time at the national team, and it was the on-field brilliance and achievements that led him to an Ambassadorial role in the nation.
