The Confederation of African Handball, CAHB, has opted to postpone the 2022 Men’s Cup of Nations Tournament that was initially scheduled for January in Cameroon.
According to the institution’s communication officer for Cameroon Bonny Philipe, the decision was arrived at during a videoconference meeting on Tuesday, December 28.
The 25th Edition of the competition that was scheduled for January 13-23 of 2022 has been moved to June 22 to July 2 next year.
Though the communications department didn’t put out the reason for the postponement, Cameroon host the Football Africa Cup of Nations during that time and it risk being the greater attraction.
It is the second time the 12- nation event has been postponed but the recent move is certainly for the good of the game.
The tournament’s draw will be done weeks before kick-off but for the moment hosts Cameroon, Senegal and Kenya are in Pot 4.
Gabon, Guinea and Nigeria are in Pot 3, while Cape Verde, Morocco, DR Congo occupy pot 2. Pot 1 has heavyweights Egypt, Tunisia and Angola.
The competition is expected to provide the same euphoria the men’s game provided earlier this year.
