The Cameroon Football Federation in collaboration with the major sponsor of the Cameroon women’s top flight championship Guinness Cameroon SA, are set to improve the wages of the major actors in the championship for the 2022 football season.
Since Guinness Cameroon stepped in as the major sponsor of the Cameroon women’s league, there has been improved conditions for the players, who have been receiving monthly stipends paid directly into to their mobile money accounts.
Kick442.com sources have gathered that, in addition to the sum of 50,000 FCFA that Guinness Cameroon SA will pay this season directly to each first division player, FECAFOOT will add the same amount each month over a year as subsidiary support to each of the female footballers of the 12 clubs taking part in the Cameroon women’s top flight. Which means each player in the Cameroon women’s league, will have a monthly salary of 100,000FCFA.
Apart from ditching out direct support to the main actors, each club will receive support of 7 million FCFA in cash and a gratuity of 1.5 million FCFA for equipment, the equivalent of two sets of complete jerseys.
In total, each clubs in the Southern part of the country will receive the sum of 9,000,000 FCFA and 9,500,000 FCFA for those in remote areas.
This move has been described by many football actors as another big step in making women’s football in Cameroon professional.
The Cameroon Guinness Super will kickoff on April 16, 2022 for the 2022 season, with a clash of Titans pitting current Champions AS AWA FF and last year’s champions, Louves Minproff, set to light up the Ngoa Ekelle stadium for the opener.
