Just like the cases of Mauritius Island, Belgium, France and the Netherlands, reports emerging from Guinea have it that, the country’s institution in charge of the domestic championship, FAA plans to declare the season over.
Reports from Guinean media outlet foot224.com have it that, Mathurin Bangoura who heads the league management body and doubles as the president of CI Kamsar has exclusively revealed the league1-pro season will be abandoned and current standings respected without relegation.
This comes barely 48 hours after the Confederation of African Football wrote to it’s national affiliate seeking details of the situation with their local championship and plans for the foreseeable future.
Football hasn’t been played in Guinea like most African countries since the outbreak CoronaVirus pandemic in March this year.
President Bangoura further revealed to the same source that the current standings will be considered as the final results for the season. This means Horoya AC, Wakriya and SAG Siguiri who occupy the top three positions as it stands will be the country’s ambassadors in CAF inter-club competitions next season.
The same source say the Guinean football federation will discuss how the country’s fourth representative will be obtained in its upcoming executive committee meeting.
Guinea has registered 1351 cases of CoronaVirus infected persons from which there has been seven mortality.
