The Ethics Committee of the world football governing body, FIFA have called for the full respect of the electoral code of the Guinean Football Federation, FEGUIFOOT during the upcoming presidential election of the structure.
In a letter addressed to FEGUIFOOT via its Secretary General Maurice Akoi Kaivogui on Saturday April 17, 2021, FIFA announced that FEGUIFOOT failed to respects its code on non-eligibility of candidates during the examination and validating aspiring candidate and current president, Souare Antonio for elections into the top managerial position of the country’s FA. This, according to a complaint sent to the structure.
The organ states that Mr Souare who on March 9 this year was found guilty by the Chamber of Judgement for FIFA’s Ethics Commission for violating its code of ethics, is non eligible to run for the top job of the Guinean FA.
The letter cites article 33 sub 4 of FEGUIFOOT which stipulates that only Members of the Executive Committee of FEGUIFOOT who have not violated any ethical codes of neither FIFA, the Confederation of African Football, CAF and FEGUIFOOT in the last five years of their candidature before elections as obliged by the 2016 version of the FA’s electoral code, are permitted to run for the office.
The message signed by the Director of FIFA’s department of association members, Kenny Jean-Marie called on the country’s FA to ensure the full respect of its electoral code before and during the said election.
Elections into the presidency of the Guinean Football Federation are scheduled for May 14 this year during an elective general assembly in Conakry.
Interim president Mamadou Souare Antonio will be running unopposed following the quitting of his lone eligible opponent, Kerfalla Camara earlier this month. Camara threw his weights behind the current leader who according to FEGUIFOOT, he called Souare “His brother with the same vision.”
