Green Buffaloes from Zambia have booked their place in the final of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier.
The team has also qualified for the 2023 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League alongside holders, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
Green Buffaloes sealed their place in the final with a second successive 4-0 victory, this time against Comoros side Olympique de Moroni, which means they hold an unassailable lead at the top of Group B.
The excellent Ireen Lungu bagged a hat-trick to take her tally for this year’s competition to five, while Natasha Nanyangwe got the other goal in what was a routine victory.
The islanders finished the game with 10 players after a red card for defender Verasantatra Andrianandrasana as she handballed a goal-bound shot, which allowed Lungu to complete her hat-trick from the penalty spot.
Green Buffaloes will face Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in the final of the 2022 COSAFA Zonal Qualifiers on August 13.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies had automatically qualified for the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League before the commencement of COSAFA Zonal Qualifiers after winning the inaugural edition last year (2021).
