After bowing out of the 2022 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six on Sunday with a 0-0 draw against Rivers Angels at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State, Interim Coach of Edo Queens, Grace Kurah after the game told pressmen that the game against Rivers Angels was a tough one.
Coach Grace Kurah was appointed in an interim capacity to replace Wemimo Matthew after the first two games of the NWFL Super Six.
“The three games handled by me were fantastic. I will tell you that my girls are good and have been able to listen to instructions. We played a better team in Rivers Angels in our last game. We tried to contain, mark, and not allow them to play. When they win the ball, we try to express ourselves. I am so happy with what my girls did today because it wasn’t an easy game. Coach Edwin Okon trained me from childhood. To be able to match his team today, it’s a pleasure.” Says Grace Kurah, also known as “Mama”.
The coach asserted that she will have to keep the team together with little or no changes ahead of the next tournament.
She said: “Now that I am in charge, I am actually going to retain the girls because they are good. I will train them in the technical aspects of the game. We can’t change more than four or five players from the team. When the players stay together for a long time, we will see more impoverishment.”
Edo Queens ended the 2022 NWFL Super Six with five points from five games and will now shift focus on the Aiteo Cup.
