Gombe United has been indicted for misconducts in the opening match of the Nigeria National League (NNL), 2021 Super Eight playoff against El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and are to pay the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000,00).
Gombe challenged the decision of the referee in the encounter and made serious attempts to assault the referee and the match commissioner for what they termed unfavourable decision after El-Kanemi took the lead.
Their fans and club officials all ran into the field and held up the game to the surprise of many and in front of dignitaries present, an act which brought the game to disrepute.
The Nigeria National League has also mandated the management of Gombe United to as a matter of urgency identify members of their supporters and officials who played major roles in the disturbances and harassment of the match and umpires of the match, refusal will mean a ban on the few numbers of supporters granted them from coming to the Stadium.
Gombe United has two days from Tuesday 7 September to comply with the directives or face stiffer sanctions.
