FIFA’s 211 member federation have endorsed 49-year-old Swiss lawyer Gianni Infantino as the FIFA president for the next 4 years.
The Swiss Football administrator was acclaimed without voting in the ongoing FIFA congress in Paris he was the only candidate for the elections.
Infantino,first became president of the highest football institution in the World in February 2016 when he came in to complete the term of Sepp Blatter who has been ousted from office following alleged scandals of corruption.
Blatter was forced out of office in fallout from corruption investigations, and is now serving a six-year ban for financial misconduct.
The news of his re-election was announced at FIFA Congress in Paris and Infantino will carry on as FIFA president until 2023 when the next elections will be held.
